Hi! I’m Ruark Downey—musician, performer, and early childhood educator. For more than 20 years, I’ve been bringing the joy of music to thousands of families through classes, parties, and events designed especially for kids ages 0–5.

What began as a side gig while pursuing acting and music in NYC quickly turned into my life’s passion. After working with amazing children’s programs like Gymboree, Kidville, and Little Maestros, I realized I wanted to build something of my own—something rooted in fun, connection, and child development.

In 2011, Roots with Ruark was born. From a single class to a full roster of families and events, the program has grown through word of mouth and heartfelt performances that keep kids singing, dancing, and coming back for more.

With each class or party, my goal is simple:
To create joyful, interactive musical moments that help little ones build confidence, connect with others, and fall in love with music.
